This exhibition features the work of Amanda Stanton Nelson, Angus Fernie and Alice Sherlock. Rearranging the deck chairs focuses on the domestic lives of pigeons, big chairs and tiny fences. With emphasis on something a little bit awry, this exhibition brings together three artists approach to dreamy storytelling through the medium of paint and print.
Rearranging the deck chairs will be on show from 19th June - 3rd July. Preview on 22nd June. All are welcome.

Alice Sherlock (b. 1997, Guildford) lives and works in Glasgow. Sherlock is an interdisciplinary artist working in print, painting, and sculpture. Her work focuses on verbatim aural storytelling and reflective nostalgia, focusing on locality and the mundane. She takes recorded familial conversations discussing childhood stories and turns them into a visual language. Her work is not a literal translation of these stories but a romanticised, fantasied, bittersweet look at nostalgia. Sherlock has recently graduated from the MLitt Fine Art Practice Print Media from the Glasgow School of Art in September 2022. She also studied BA Hons Fine Art and Theatre at Lancaster University graduating in 2019 focusing on contemporary performance.

Angus Fernie (b. 1996, Glasgow) is a Glasgow based painter. having graduated in
2018 from the Glasgow School of Art’s Painting and Printmaking BA (2018), Fernie works primarily in oils, playing with absurdist ideas of silliness. Angus has exhibited across Glasgow as well as in London and Texas.

Amanda Stanton-Nelson (b. 1996, Nottingham) works primarily in painting, printmaking and essay formats. Her writing tells its narrative through ambiguous half stories and nonsensical poems and her visual works hold an ambiguity that allows the viewer to decide what they think is happening. Her work expresses the outcomes of extensive reflection and is informed both by lived experience and her undergraduate study in Theology and Sociology at The University of Bristol (2020). Speaking about her research, Amanda ‘[feels] indebted to those women who came, felt and translated their experience before [her].’ She recently graduated from the MLitt Fine Art Practice, Print Media Pathway at Glasgow School of Art (2022).
