Reverie in Red is the first solo exhibition by Glasgow-based painter and visual artist Dave ‘PizzaBoy’ Breen. Created between 2025 and 2026 this body of studio work brings together oil painting, installation, and photography.
The exhibition explores Breen’s fascination with nostalgia as a feeling rather than a memory. A longing for a moment that feels familiar but may never have been lived. The work draws from cinema, literature, music, and popular culture, reflecting on how they linger both in the collective imagination and in our personal history.
These references are not quoted or recreated. Instead, they surface as atmosphere, appearing as fragments, tones, and visual cues - echoes of memories misremembered. The work is rooted in inherited experience. The stories we absorb through screens, pages, and soundtracks, until they blur with our own, settling in the body as something felt rather than recalled.
Reverie in Red exists in the spaces in between. Welcoming the warmth of familiarity, while embracing its rough, ragged edges. Inviting the viewer into moments that feel close and recognisable, without confirming whether they ever truly happened at all.

Dave 'PizzaBoy' Breen (b. 1992) is a self-taught painter and visual artist working primarily in oil. His work grew out of street art before finding its way into the studio, where he’s spent years quietly refining his approach. That background still shows in the directness and energy of his paintings, shaped by working fast, trusting instinct, and learning by doing.
He moves smoothly between mediums, creating works where oil paints, hand-drawn lettering, screen-printing, and purpose-built sets co-exist. Breen’s paintings are built around mood and memory rather than fixed stories. Late nights, empty roads, and in-between moments are ever-present. He creates scenes that feel familiar without being specific, like a nostalgia for memories you didn’t know you had. This openness keeps the work fluid and personal, blending raw energy with considered technique. Dave “PizzaBoy” Breen lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland.
