You can escape from one place to another, but you can never escape from yourself.
In this exhibition, artist YY Wang presents organisms and their stories from another unknown world through artworks with sculptures, paintings, videos and other media. Their existence blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy, familiarity and weirdness in this space, temporarily allowing people to escape from the real world, cross the ethereal dream, and finally reach the hidden mind.
YY created these works with passion and joy, felt like the process of hand-making them brings healing energy to her, and she also puts this feeling feedback to them. Here you can temporarily abandon the pursuit of meaning, and just purely use your senses to feel the connection between you and these works, and the energy they give you. Then explore and find the inner landscape of the mind through these.

YY Wang She/Her
An emerging artist who grew up with the influence of Internet culture and subculture after the millennium. Her works are influenced by the artist’s nostalgia and based on the research of dreamcore aesthetics. By using various media like sculpture, video and sound, she is building a fancy dreamlike world with childhood nostalgia and fantasy elements to let people regain forgotten feelings.
She studied 4 years of Ceramic Art during her undergraduate in China and is now studying Master of Letters in Fine Art Practice at the Glasgow School of Art.
