Using art as a form of escapism ‘wish you were here’ aims to convey a need for imagination and distraction from our everyday surroundings. Creating a physical representation of the many daydreams I have of more exotic environments this body of work seeks to provide a window into my mind depicting bold colour and bizarre forms. The ensuing other-worldly environment will hopefully resonate with fellow idealists.
Recent world events which have had a detrimental effect on anxiety and mental health have paved the way for bold, unfamiliar design. Creating a joyful environment in our own home is now considered more important than ever and this collection aims to celebrate unreality.

ARTIST LINK:
Cat is a textile designer based in Edinburgh. She began on the painting course at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen before switching to fashion and textiles in her second year. This combined background of fine art and design has shaped her approach to making as she aims to blur the line between art and design, form and function. Her current focus is on rug-tufting, depicting bold forms and colours as she references her work in a paint showroom working with colour on a daily basis. Since graduating Cat has held studios both in Glasgow and Edinburgh and has exhibited work in several galleries.
